What is Holistic Life Coaching?
Holistic Life Coaching recognizes there are differing facets to
each of us, including:
- Physical – physical wellness or
limitations
- Social – your relationship to others
and how others see you
- Emotional – your relationship with
yourself and how you see yourself
- Mental – your view of the world
and how you make sense of it all
- Spiritual identity – discovering
and understanding what gives your life meaning and purpose.
Holistic life coaching acknowledges these aspects are interdependent.
For example, a sudden loss in physical mobility due to a health
crisis will likely impact you emotionally. You may also begin to
retreat from socializing with others and start to question why
this has happened to you. Holistic life coaching affirms that exploring
each of those aspects is important to personal growth, self-discovery,
and renewal.
Holistic life coaching is also client-driven.
YOU decide what you want more of (abundance, time for self, peace,
a spiritual
connection) or less of (interruptions, drama, bad relationships)
in your life. Ann’s role is to be the facilitator and work
with you to identify strategies and steps that will help you be
reach your goal or find the meaning or truth you are seeking.
Who can benefit from Holistic Life Coaching?
Holistic life coaching embraces the principle that life is a journey
and not a destination. And, just as a car needs an occasional tune-up
to perform at its best, an occasional life tune-up will help us
navigate the traffic hazards we might face on our life journey,
such as:
- Detours – job downsizing,
broken relationships;
- Speed bumps – a
sudden change in health status;
- Shifting gears – transitioning
from one phase of life to another; and
- Changing lanes – desire to explore other career possibilities,
spiritual paths, or simplify one’s life
A competent life coach like Ann can be a guide and facilitator
through these and other times of change. While friends and family
can be a great source of help and support, it sometimes helps to
reach outside that circle for guidance.
How does the coaching process work?
While each client’s situation and needs are unique, there
are some common elements to the process. When scheduling the initial
session, Ann tries to get a preliminary sense of what you are looking
for and how she can be of assistance. During the first session,
Ann does a lot of listening, asking the kinds of questions that
will help both of you understand your situation, goals, and expectations.
You will them work with Ann to map out an action plan. Each plan
is unique and takes into consideration your needs, as well as,
your personality and work style. For some clients, the plan includes
goal-setting and identifying specific steps and a timeline for
completion. For others, the process is more exploratory and focuses
on finding meaning.
How much will it cost?
A typical coaching session (whether by
phone or in person) lasts about an hour, for which Ann charges
$90. Sessions running longer
than one hour will be billed at a rate of $15 per ten minute increment.
Face-to-Face sessions outside Ann’s office include a $50
fee for travel time.
For many clients three to four sessions are adequate for success.
For others, it may take longer.
